Comments from some experts

AMÍ products have been established in Italy for some time now and have been reviewed by many scientists. Some of their comments are available for you to read here.

"After I have carefully read both the ethical and scientific reasons AMÍ s.r.l. has provided to support a vegetarian pet diet - without the killing of animals - and the ingredients of AMÍ cat and dog food, I consider AMÍ pet food perfectly suitable for domestic animals’ alimentary needs.

In particular, I believe it is very important to underline that, in present times, almost all kind of commercialized meet undergo treatments, such as “tumbling”. This means that there is almost no meet, either chicken or other, guaranteed from the contamination of BSE (“mad cow” disease), or from other pathogenic agents peculiar of the different species.

Furthermore, in a time of still heavy risk of cattle-meet affected by the “mad cow” disease, or BSE, the most common pet food for cats and dogs based on meet can still infect our pet friends. In fact, it is well known that BSE prions can infect both domestic felines, such cats, and felines penned (unfortunately) in zoo cages, while the infection can’t be excluded for dogs as well.

If so, it is fair to confirm that dogs can certainly, and safely, adjust themselves to a vegetarian diet, whereas cats present some problems (which may be easily solved by adding taurine to their food, as is the case of AMÍ pet food), the spread of BSE-infected meat calls for the prevention of such a risk. This can be carried out by feeding our cats and dogs with safe products, like vegetarian ones.

Thanks to AMÍ s.r.l. products, we have the availability of keeping our pets healthy, with no risks and without killing of other animals."

Ex Representative of European Parliament and Member of BSE Commission

"Animal protectors and vegetarians are deeply concerned with pet-food. It is illogical to refuse a meat diet for ourselves and accept it for our pets, thus contributing to the killing of other animals. Some of our pets are actually natural carnivores, like cats, but the idea of slaughtering calves, lambs and tuna-fish to feed them is disgusting. Fortunately, the millenary shared life of men and animals has turned the latter into omnivores. A totally vegetarian diet is suitable also for them.

Pets seem to appreciate AMÍ DOG and AMÍ CAT food which is rich in proteins, vitamins, mineral salts, and most importantly, is devoid of appetite whetting substances which addict dogs and cats to industrially processed food. The new vegetarian products of AMÍ s.r.l. do not contain harmful salts, or prions (responsible for mad cow disease), and, have never led to the killing of other animals. I recommend the constant consumption of AMÍ DOG and AMÍ CAT dry food: this is in line with the ethical ideas of people who respect other animals, but also keeps our pets healthy."

"People who have decided to give up animal-derived food, whether for health or ethical reasons, and care for their pets’ health, can finally give them special attention.

Unlike man, dogs and cats naturally feed on meat which is completely different from the one man gives them today: it is canned discarded food, rich in all sorts of chemical substances such as antibiotics, pesticides used for the production of food for brood animals and fats which are not contained in small wild animals cats and dogs would naturally feed on.

It is well-known that vegetal food is good for man not because it implies eliminating meat, but because vegetables contain protective substances which prevent many diseases. What may be good for animals can only sometimes be good for man and vice versa, but proper pet food, which does not contain harmful substances like those of food for brood animals, particularly discarded parts of slaughtered animals, will certainly contribute to the animals’ health.

This is how exclusively vegetable pet food, but well-balanced and suitable for the nutritional needs of dogs and cats, can provide a concrete means of granting also to our pets the same beneficial effects as for man in the prevention of many degenerative diseases."

"A really innovative pet food, which does not use slaughtered-animal by-products. Easily-digestible, highly nutritious and very tasty."

Dr. Roberto Venturini
Veterinarian

"It is actually in progress a deeply detailed evaluation of the different diet typologies’ environmental impact. The introductory results clearly states that, considering:

  1. Environment international agreements
  2. Sustainable development
  3. Human health damages (materials that have an impact on the respiration, organic and inorganic compounds, on the carcinogenesis, on the climatic changes, and on the ozone layer, ionizing radiations)
  4. Ecosystem quality damages (ecotoxicity, acidification, and eutrophisation)
  5. Resource damages (primary resources and fuels use), included all details (e.g. electricity for the milking machines, etc.)

Meat consumption is absolutely harmful not only directly for animals, but also from an environmental (energy waste, pollution), social-humanitarian (resource waste, and world hunger) and nutritive (effects on the human health) point of view. If human personal choices can deeply influence the quality of both life and ecosystem, meat consumption by the so-called “domestic animals” was once an almost compulsory choice.

Now the chance of having pet food of entirely vegetable origin (AMÍ DOG and AMÍ CAT), but absolutely well-balanced and suitable for dogs and cats nutritional needs, solves this problem and also improves their quality of life, avoiding the most common pet food which contains pre-packed product discards, antibiotics and pesticides."

"The problem of dog and cat diets has two main aspects: one organoleptic, and one strictly nutritional. One has been solved by our small friends; different proofs have demonstrated that they like both AMÍ DOG and AMÍ CAT. As per the second one, having examined the chemical composition, both AMÍ DOG and AMÍ CAT contain all the necessary nutritional elements sufficient to their respective needs".

"AMÍ DOG and AMÍ CAT products represent an absolute novelty in the field of small animal diets. With neither genetically modified organisms (GMO free), nor slaughtered by-products, these products have all the necessary ingredients suitable to keep both dogs and cats in good and perfect health. Besides the nutritional aspects, AMÍ DOG and AMÍ CAT give also an answer to the ethical questions raised by traditional pet foods."

Dr. Enrico Tognana

"A new product of excellent palatability, outstanding digestibility, without animal fats and flours. These complete foods for dogs and cats have raw materials of high quality which help to combat food allergies. In this way, AMÍ DOG and AMÍ CAT takes care of our small animals' health."
